Transportation To and Around Austin

Getting to Downtown Austin
Austin-Bergstrom Airport is approximately 9 miles from downtown Austin.  If you’re not renting a car, you can catch a taxi to downtown - about 20 minutes and $30.  If you are renting a car, there is limited metered parking in downtown Austin as well as pay-lots. Your hotel may also provide valet service with a daily rate.

Taxis:
Most of your time in Austin will likely be spent in downtown.  There are multiple taxi services to take you to all locations throughout this weekend, and fares will typically run between $5-$10 per ride as all events have been planned within a mile or two of each other.

Pedicabs:
Pedicabs (a bicycle-rickshaw operated by a licensed driver) are one of the most popular ways to get around downtown Austin.  Although pedicab drivers may look eccentric, they are typically extremely friendly, safe, and a lot fun!  Unlike taxi cabs, most pedicabs only accept cash and have no meter. Fares are donation based. If you ask what they charge they’ll tell you, “We work for tips!”  When pressed, most pedicabbers will quote you $5 per person, but if they are taking you on a long journey feel free to tip more. Pedicabs are a really fun and efficient way of getting around downtown Austin, so don’t be shy. Go ahead, flag one down, and hop on in!
